( Cincinnati ) Relief pitcher Jonathan Broxton has been re-signed by the Reds to a three-year, $21 million contract. The goal is to move Broxton to the closing role and Aroldis Chapman in the starting role, but Assistant GM Bob Miller says "nothing is set in stone."

Broxton came to the reds at the end of July and in 60 appearances totaling 58 innings, he posted a 2.48 ERA, 27 saves, 56 hits, 17 walks and 45 strikeouts. He earned $4 million on a one-year contract.

Broxton has a 3.10 ERA and 111 saves over an eight-year career with the Dodgers, Royals and Reds.
